Frequently Asked Questions

Most Asked

Which model should I choose?

The key to elevating your game is choosing the lightest power that can handle the fish in your water. Then choose the length by how much casting distance your water requires.

See the chart on each product page for the recommended fields and target fish sizes for every model.

Can I use a Trout BFS rod for bass?

For small stream bass, it can be a lot of fun. Suwannee, redeye, shoal, Guadalupe and many other native creek bass live in clear, flowing creeks and rivers much like trout water, and are mostly under 2 pounds.

Keep in mind that bass fight differently from trout. Our Trout BFS rods are built for wild trout, so please stay within each model's rated line and lure weights. They're not made for pulling largemouth out of heavy cover.

What reel and line do you recommend?

We recommend a BFS-specific reel. Japanese-rated PE line, size 0.8–1.0, with a nylon leader is our standard setup, balancing strength and casting performance. The ideal line varies by model.
